Val, I loved this. I loved the way you had the action lead up to some internal realization on Starsky's part, like that he and Hutch had all this stuff at each other's houses, and then that final realization (or question) about what love was. You asked recently onlist what the "payoff" was for people in stories, and for me it's always some internal turning point. That's what I'm looking for--that moment of realization, a slight internal shift. I want to see growth in the characters, esp. since the tv show didn't really allow for much.
Even though this is in 3rd person, it's still from Starsky's p.o.v., and I thought you got his voice just right.
Something that always makes me smile with delight is when someone weaves--unobtrusively--some bit of canon into their story. So I really liked the bit about the root beer--you're right, why did Hutch have it in his fridge??
Loved it! I will not demand you to be chained up, but I do hope you keep writing. I want to see what happens next.
